Best Places To See In Florence, Italy In Just 2 Days



In case you are in Tuscany, you want to make sure that you take a look at some of the best places in Florence. The truth is that it is very hard to decide on what you can see in just 2 days. After all, between all the museums, churches, monuments, and palazzos, there are plenty of amazing places. 


While you may not be able to see all these places inside, at least you will have the opportunity to take a good grasp of them from the outside. 


Day 1:


Piazza del Duomo:

Located in the heart of Florence, you will be able to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiori with its famous cupola by Brunelleschi. If you have the time, you can’t miss going all the way up to the top and admire an amazing view of the entire city. 


Piazza della Signoria:

Near the Piazza del Duomo, you have the Piazza della Signoria which is the center of the political power. Here, you have the city museum as well as the Palazzo Vecchio. 


The Uffizi Gallery:

This is one of the top museums not only of the city but of the world. After all, at the Uffizi gallery, you will be able to enjoy a large collection of Renaissance masterpieces that include works by Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Botticelli. 


Ponte Vecchio:

Ponte Vecchio, or the “Old Bridge”, is one of Florence symbols. It dates back from the 12th century.


Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens:

As soon as you cross the Ponte Vecchio, you will immediately reach the Oltrarno area where you will find the Pitti Palace. In its backyard, you will be able to visit the Boboli Gardens. In case you have a lot of time, you can visit the Modern Art Gallery or the Palatine Gallery. On the other hand, if you are running short of time, just take a moment to check out the Boboli Gardens and relax in a peaceful atmosphere. 


Santo Spirito:

Just around the corner of the Pitti Palace, you will find the Piazza Sato Spirito where you can visit the Church. While it is quite simple when you look at the outside, inside the Church of Santo Spirito you will find many artistic treasures. 

In case you are hungry, you should try out one of the many cafes and restaurants in this square. You will be able to try some of the best Tuscan dishes and enjoy the amazing views.



Day 2: 


Piazza and Church of Santa Maria Novella:

The Piazza and Church of Santa Maria Novella are incredible. The square was recently renovated.


Accademia Gallery:

If you want to see the original David statue by Michelangelo, then you have got to check out the Accademia Gallery. 


Piazza Santa Croce and the Basilica of Santa Croce:

Now, it’s time to check out the Piazza Santa Croce where many Tuscans have their final resting place. In case you don’t have the time to enter, you should at least check the outdoor especially the grand statue of Dante that is right in the front left corner. 


Piazzale Michelangelo:

When you are trying to get the best image of Florence, you need to go to the Piazzale Michelangelo. The view is incredible and if you can catch the sunset, it will be even better.
